Missionary Care
Apartment
Ministry
Primary focus:
This
local Hispanic outreach started in the Courtyards Apartments on
Mustang (just down the street from 121) as a Kid's Club in the
apartment Clubhouse. We share a Bible story, memory verse, crafts,
snack and other fun activities Mondays from 6:30 - 7:30pm. Mothers
with young children became consistent attendees and we have now
started a women's Bible Study in Spanish. In January, we started
ESL classes for adults on Wednesday nights from 7:00 - 8:30pm also
in the Clubhouse. New opportunities are surfacing as we seek to
meet the practical and spiritual needs of the residents.
Ways to get involved:
- Help teach school-aged children and preschool children on Monday
nights
- Lead ESL on Wednesday nights
- Care for young children on Wednesday nights
- Soccer players and leaders
- LifeGroups can be involved in many ways, from making a weekly commitment
to volunteer to collecting needed resources to participating in an
outreach event.

Refugee
Ministry
Primary focus:
Refugees are those who are forced to leave their home country due
to ethnic, political, or religious persecution. 121 has partnered with
World Relief, a Christian organization assisting refugees in starting
life over again. What a privilege that these people have moved into
our very own community! We can be Christ to these new neighbors by
helping them with their basic needs and sharing the good news through
our words and acts of compassion.
Ways
to get involved:
-
Family
adoptions. The
best ministry with refugee families is to meet
them at the airport and continue developing friendship
over the next few months – basically a family “adoption.” World
Relief takes care of finding housing, jobs, etc.,
but so many emotional and smaller daily needs go unmet
by the overloaded WR staff. Any help you can provide (helping
with English, helping them find a thrift store or a grocery
store, etc.) is tremendous.
-
Service Projects. There are also short-term
service projects to help with refugee events or with the World Relief
office, such as sorting items, making deliveries, office help, ministry
events, Christmas parties, or field trips for kids, clothes drives,
Thanksgiving baskets or Christmas adoption.

International Student Ministry
Primary
focus:
This ministry is to university students from foreign countries who
come to study in the DFW area. We seek to introduce them to Christ
by becoming friends with them and sharing Christ in that relationship.
Most are here for a short time, 1-3 years at the most; they are anxious
to connect with Americans, and they are hungry to learn more about
our culture, which leads to untold opportunities to lead them to Christ.
Ways to get involved:
Contact Gerry Watkins to be connected to a student or to attend an
upcoming event that is designed to introduce students to American friends.
Once connected to a student(s), invite them to your home for dinner,
a holiday or other fun event, or to go shopping. Invite them to prepare
a typical meal of their country in your kitchen. Prepare special treats
for them during exams, take them to a sporting event, etc.

KiDs Beach
Club
Primary focus:
KiDs Beach Club
is a new and exciting ministry dedicated to helping churches present
the gospel message to unchurched elementary-age children (8-12
years old) by rapidly establishing Bible clubs called “Beach
Clubs” in strategic locations in their community – their public schools. Beach
Clubs are fun and exciting clubs that meet after school once each
week and are focused on leading children to Christ and integrating
them and their families into the local church. 121CC is partnering
with KiDs Beach Club and starting its first Beach Club on March 21st
at Carroll Elementary – you can be a part of it from the very
start!
Ways to get involved:
- Volunteer
to serve in the club…storytelling,
worship, memory verse teacher, counselor, or game leader.
- Be a LifeGuard …support
through finances, prayer, or visits to families of children who
profess Christ.
- Plenty of “behind-the-scenes” support
roles exist as well.

Sports Ministry
Primary focus:
The
sports ministry is simply using sports as an outreach and an easier
way to share our faith. We desire to form teams from LifeGroups,
with a handful of 121 people and a handful who are disconnected
from church altogether. This can be a great way to invite someone
to do something fun together and build a relationship in the process.
Ways to get involved:
If you have a heart to reach out to others through sports and would
like to get involved as a player or coach, contact Stuart and let the
games begin!

Mexico
Primary focus:
Evangelism
through Bible distribution and assisting in new church starts.
Ways to get involved:
Each year we take trips to the border to hand out Bibles door to door
and show the Jesus movie in order to assist local churches in outreach
and new church starts in Acuna. We are also exploring trips further
to the interior (there is already one planned for June 2-9 this year).

Guatemala
Primary focus:
Evangelism,
Bible teaching, games, and overall emotional support for abandoned
and abused teenage girls in an orphanage in Antigua, Guatemala,
under the direction of Buckner Orphan Care International.
Ways to get involved:
Each
year there are two trips to Guatemala (usually January and July)
where we will spend one week with the girls, talking and praying
with them, teaching Bible studies and life skills, leading recreation,
making crafts, and singing with them.

Russia
Primary focus:
121
is partnered with Spoken For (www.spokenfor.org)
to minister to the orphans of Penza, Russia. The primary
focus is older youth who have to leave the orphanages at age 15.
We connect these youth with mentors and cell groups (like LifeGroups)
in the local church. In addition, we set up the youth in apartments
and try to get them connected into school and with jobs. All of
this has also led to a closer relationship with Bethany/Revelation
Church and we are currently exploring further ministry possibilities
with these leaders.
Ways to get involved:
- Summer Tent Camping in July
- Host Family for Soccer Team coming to America
- Host Family for Broken Dancer Team member coming to America
- Christmas Hug Trip at the end of December
- Work Team to help build the church
- Car Mechanic to help boys learn how to detail and work on cars
- Cooks to come work in the culinary center
- Monthly supporter of the Fireworks Ministry
- Website writer for our Fireworks website

India
Primary focus:
121
is working with Indian ministries and American missionaries to
bring the Gospel to some of the least reached people and people
groups in the world. We are focused in northern India, specifically
in Delhi and the state of Uttar Pradesh. Work is ongoing among
those living in slums, unreached Hindu and Muslim villages, and
soon with university students.
Ways to get involved:
Much like connecting
with a missionary, your LifeGroup can receive communication from
our partners so that you can pray, you can send a member of your
group to India as part of a short term trip, and you can join in
special projects such as collecting needed items or writing notes
of encouragement to our partners.

Missionary
Care
Primary focus:
The daily struggles and stresses of missionaries are well known, but
many go out from churches which have little support or contact as these
individuals carry the message of the Gospel to foreign lands. Unfortunately,
this has led to numerous problems and many have returned home. We desire
to be the kind of church that commits to care for those we send out,
and to do this with excellence.
Ways to get involved:
- Connect with a missionary and pray for him/her/them weekly in your
LifeGroup
- Send notes and care packages regularly
- Send a member of your LifeGroup on a short term trip to visit and
work alongside the missionary
- Help with the many details and logistics when the missionary comes
back home for a visit
The possibilities are endless. Contact Jane Wynn to be connected to
one of our current missionaries serving overseas.
