Note: The following article is the February update from ministry
partners Ramesh and Gloria Landge who serve with Cooperative Outreach
of India (COI)..
Psalm
105:8 He has remembered His covenant forever, the word which He
commanded to a thousand generations.
We want to thank the Lord for His faithfulness in the ministry of
Cooperative Outreach of India in the past 15 years.
It was a special privilege to have our long time friends and mentors
Jack and Cathy Ollis for this special occasion. Over 150 leaders
from all across Delhi participated in thanksgiving. Bob and Steven
from Partners International made special efforts to be with us during
this time.
Church Planting efforts that have brought several-fold
results in past 15 years. Now we are beginning to see the transformation
of the villages. We, as a body of Christ, want to
acknowledge all
things for the glory of God that He alone is worthy to bring people
unto Him. There are several hundred villages that are transformed
in the UP and Uttranchal areas.
Micro Enterprise
Goat Project: Uttaranchal; 358 families received goats, poultry birds,
horticulture plants and seeds in an effort to make them self supporting
in the coming years. Passing on gifts of another 40 goats also took
place, thus blessing several families in the process.
P.E.A.C.E.
EFI & COI together were instrumental in initiating PEACE conferences
all over North India in 2007. Over 3000 key leaders and pastors
were equipped in seven major cities. We are grateful for the vision
of Pastor Rick Warren for the PEACE events. The next conference
is taking place this week and will be over the 2nd of February
in Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Mike Cosntantz from Saddleback has been
here to encourage everyone in the process.
Other Current Efforts
The
Battered Women’s
home is almost complete after many
years of waiting. We want to thank
the Lord for this building. This is being named “Elaina Hall” for
the encouragement and motivation from Elaina Dulane. The opening
is being planned for some time in June 2008. This home will cater
to the needs of women who are abused and left to fend for themselves.
We require furnishing for the center; kindly pray for this need.
In North Delhi another computer training center was inaugurated
on Jan 1st to cater to the needs of women who could
not leave their home. The local counselor and dignitaries came
to witness and bless the training facility. There are four groups
of girls who have been undergoing this training.
The Kashmir project has suffered due to the hardliners and the school
had to be moved twice in the past few months. Pastor Paul and our
team have been facing difficulties from various fronts. Kindly continue
to lift them up in your prayers. The team in Kashmir is making all
efforts to do their best.
The Masters Trainers program has started and it is making good progress.
We praise God for all the provision that came along to train the
master trainers. We praise God for a good faculty. Timothy Das has
given it a good direction. We believe that this will transform the
whole of North India.
Slum schools have been doing well in the community. Kindly pray for
the children during the intense cold wave that has swept the whole
of North India. Today the government has announced a holiday for
the primary schools for three days.
Prayer requests.
- Pray for
the Master Trainers program that will
train 60 master trainers
over the year that they will be a blessing to the people around
and to all the participating organizations.
- Pray
for the required finances for the completion and furnishing
of the Battered Women’s Home. It needs lots of furnishings
like beds, cupboards, linen, kitchen furnishings,
and equipment etc.
- Pray for
comfort and PEACE during the persecution that is going
on in Orissa and rest of the country including the Kashmir area
that the Lord will strengthen the teams there.
- Pray for
the Church Planting efforts that are going on in Uttaranchal,
UP, Delhi Kashmir and other areas through COI and other ministries.
- Pray
for the children in the slums in various part of Delhi where
COI is ministering by meeting their educational, medical and
social needs.
- Pray
for the efforts that are being made by COI to start a good
school to provide a valuable education to the kids from weaker
