SUN FUN AT CARROLL ELEMENTARY |
|
My
name is Stacy Wagnon and I am the principal of Carroll Elementary
in Southlake. I have been a member of 121 for two years. I have
always wanted to be a part of the 121 missions program but was
not sure how I could do that with my work schedule. Ross teaches
us that our lives are missions and that we are to take God’s
word and God’s
love to our spheres of What is Kids Beach Club? It's a club for our 2nd – 4th graders that meets for an hour after school once a week. Clubs take place in school cafeterias, gyms, libraries and classrooms right after the school bell rings. Last spring Russel Gregory, the director of Kid’s Beach Club, Diana Parker, Craig DiGiovanni and I met to discuss the possibilities of having an after school Bible club at Carroll Elementary. With the dedication, commitment and diligence of our enthusiastic parents and the awesome 121 staff every Wednesday afternoon the cafeteria at CES is transformed into a vibrant, fun-filled room of praise and worship. Our students have the opportunity to stay after school and learn about Jesus! Our volunteers show the love of Jesus through story telling, games, music and Bible lessons.
Here is what some of the Carroll Elementary staff has to say about Beach Club... Beach
Club has truly been a blessing to C.E.S. It is wonderful to see
so many of our students excited about worshiping our Lord. I feel that
Beach Club is very beneficial for our students here at CES. It
allows students to focus on character qualities such as kindness,
servant leadership, integrity, and many other character building
skills. I think it is
a very positive after-school activity. I love seeing our parents
working with the kids. I love how helping
with Beach Club has strengthened my relationships with my students
that participate in it. Because they have the opportunity to see
me in that setting, they seem to feel like they have a deeper connection
with me as well. It's also neat to see the Bibles that seem to find
their way into the classroom, the kids offering a helping hand to
each other, and using our moment of silence during morning announcements
to pray.
Carroll Elementary
School is most fortunate to have administrators, parents, and students
desiring to fulfill what America was founded upon, God's Law and
Christianity. Beach Club is the most important after school activity
we have. Students with or without problems all benefit from having
positive role models teach them about God's word. On a personal
note, I had a student with social problems along with an unhappy
disposition in my class the first year Beach Club was started.
I noticed a difference immediately. He loved wearing his t-shirt
along with other classmates and looked forward to lining up in
the "Beach Club" line each Tuesday. He often commented
about some of the nice parents who so graciously donated their time
and effort to teach the classes. I am very proud to teach in a school
where God's name is spoken to little children. Thank you to everyone
involved! I love Beach Club. It is such an inspiration to see these sweet
little faces eager to hear the Word. ::Stacy Wagnon |
